or I guess you could go solo as the Lumeris and rush an economic victory, but IMO that kinda defeats the point of playing with so many Civs on :P (the maximum alliance members per game is the number of civs/2, rounded down)Įither way you'll still need to capture 4 enemy capitals, but with 8 civs you'll have the help of an additional teammate. If you're playing with 7 Civs and want to end the game as fast as possible, I'd say your best bet is to form the strongest military alliance possible and go straight for a Supremacy victory (have your alliance own all starting homeworlds)- you might want to up the number of Civs to 8 so you can form a 4-man alliance. (again, if you're playing on Fast instead of Normal, it takes only 5 turns to cap a lodestone instead of the usual 10) The number of lodestones that spawn during the Academy quest also seems to corrospond to the number of civs in the game, so if you're playing with 7 civs on normal speed it could take a while to wrest majority control. ![]() Smaller galaxies also require you to own fewer systems for a Conquest victory, since the number required is based on a % of the total number of colonizable systems in the galaxy. The size of the galaxy also matters - for instance on a Tiny or Small galaxy you'll only need to build two obelisks to score a wonder victory instead of the usual 3-5. all require half as much time to complete.ĪFAIK the only thing that stays constant is the speed of your ships and ship ability cooldowns, which means (relatively) less time to explore the galaxy. Things literally happen twice as fast when you change the speed from "normal" to fast - construction, research, pop growth, colonization, lodestone control, etc. To answer TC's question about game speed: yes, in my experience increasing the game speed helps a lot - especially if you're playing with 7 civs. I haven't tried the other civs, yet.ĭo you have standard settings for the game? Sophons and Lumeris seemed a bit weak initially, but once established they're ok. I've really enjoyed Sheredyn, Horatio, and Riftborn and have played several games with them. What difficulty do you play on? Do you have any good strategy tips? (I've got the early game exploration down pretty well using the hero as an explorer, shifting to armor for battles, colonizing strong systems, etc.) ![]() Seems like the strategy shifts to prioritize CP and bigger vessels. I tried ramping up to the next level of difficulty but didn't enjoy the weaker start positions and the inequality of the battles. I was wondering if the faster game speeds fix this? What speed setting do you play on? Is the end game better at the faster speeds? I know people turn off economic victory but on the normal setting I'm usually ready for the game to end by any means. One thing I've noticed is that the end game starts to get pretty boring on the normal setting. I haven't played with the "No Small Systems" mod yet, but I have downloaded it. It's much like the Civ games in that if you get a crappy start position, it's a crappy game, but if you get a good start position, things rock. I've been playing the base game on normal settings, 7 civs, solo.
